Let’s be real, finding affordable sunscreens that actually feels good on your skin is one of the hardest things in the beauty world. Too many of them leave a white cast, feel greasy, or break you out And when you’re trying to build a consistent SPF habit (which, if you aren’t doing yet, today is the day), the last thing you want is a product that makes you dread putting it on.

The good news? The sunscreen game has completely changed, especially with the rise of Korean and Japanese formulas that are lightweight, skin-caring, and genuinely enjoyable to use. I’ve done the research, tested the products, and rounded up 10 of my absolute favorites across every category: face SPF, body SPF, active protection, hair and scalp care, and even lip protection. Because full sun protection means protecting all of you, not just your forehead.

Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, or somewhere in between, there’s something on this list for you. And yes, they’re all affordable, white-cast free, and non-greasy. Let’s get into it.

Face Sunscreens

1. Haruharu Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Sunscreen SPF 50+ — My Personal Favorite

Best for: Dry, sensitive, and normal skin | Finish: Velvet, semi-matte | Water resistant: No (daily use formula)

If I had to pick one desert island sunscreen, this would be it, and I say that as someone with dry skin who genuinely does not love a super glowy finish. The Haruharu Wonder Airyfit is the perfect middle ground: deeply hydrating without ever feeling heavy or leaving a shine I didn’t ask for. It leaves a beautiful velvet finish that wears like a dream under makeup, and the formula is absolutely packed with skincare goodness.

It’s SPF 50+ PA++++ and shields skin from UVA, UVB, and blue light. The formula includes Rice Bran Oil to fight free radical damage, Heartleaf Extract and Ceramide NP to nourish and strengthen the skin barrier, and brightening Niacinamide to help fade dark spots and even skin tone. Zero white cast, fragrance-conscious, and vegan. This one genuinely does it all.

Why I love it: It feels like skincare and sunscreen in one and never a chore to apply.

2. Geek & Gorgeous Zero Feel SPF 50 — My Personal Favorite

Best for: All skin types | Finish: Truly matte | Water resistant: No (daily use formula)

This is my other holy grail, and together with the Haruharu, these two make up my SPF ride-or-dies. The Geek & Gorgeous Zero Feel is exactly what it sounds like: you genuinely cannot feel it on your skin. It’s the kind of sunscreen that skeptics point to when they say “this changed my mind about sunscreen” — because it’s that good.

It dries down in about 30 seconds, doesn’t pill, and is amazing under makeup. It’s especially great for people whose eyes tend to sting from sunscreen, because it’s very well-tolerated even close to the eye area. The finish is actually matte, not “matte-ish,” not “natural,” genuinely matte with no white cast. For anyone with normal to dry skin, applying a moisturizer underneath is recommended to keep skin comfortable, but otherwise this suits virtually every skin type beautifully.

Why I love it: It’s the most invisible sunscreen I’ve ever tried. You forget it’s there, in the best way.

3. Abib Airy Sunstick Smoothing Bar SPF 50+ — My Favorite for Reapplication

Best for: All skin types, especially combination and dry | Finish: Semi-matte | Water resistant: Yes (80 minutes)

Okay, we need to talk about SPF reapplication, because most of us aren’t doing it, and this stick is the reason I finally started. The Abib Airy Sunstick Smoothing Bar has a practical, mess-free solid stick format that allows for hands-free application and glides smoothly over skin without sticking. The clear formulation leaves no white cast and works beautifully for reapplication even over makeup — without moving it around.

I specifically reach for the Airy version (the smoothing bar) over the Quick Sunstick because I prefer a semi-matte finish — if you love a dewy glow, the Quick version is gorgeous, but for those of us who don’t want extra shine, the Airy is perfect. It’s also water resistant for up to 80 minutes, which is a bonus even for everyday use. It contains soothing and hydrating ingredients including Centella Asiatica and Aloe to keep skin calm and comfortable in the sun, and the ergonomic design fits perfectly around the curves of your face for precise, mess-free application. This is the one that lives in my bag at all times.

Why I love it: Reapplication without ruining your makeup? Game. Changer.

4. Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum SPF 50+

Best for: Normal to combination skin | Finish: Natural to dewy | Water resistant: No (daily use formula)

This one is for my normal and combo skin girls, and it is genuinely one of the most talked-about K-beauty sunscreens for good reason. The Skin1004 Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum has an airy, serum-like texture that absorbs well and leaves a luminous, no-white-cast finish, perfect for daily use. It deeply hydrates with a unique Hyaluronic Acid system that locks in moisture for a more supple, radiant look, and harnesses the power of Madagascar Centella Asiatica for soothing support.

Under makeup it performs beautifully, no pilling, no greasiness, and it’s packed with centella asiatica, birch bark, and green tea extracts alongside multiple forms of hyaluronic acid for antioxidant protection and deep hydration. It’s fragrance-free, alcohol-free, paraben-free, and reef safe. A true all-rounder for everyday wear.

Why it’s on the list: The ingredient list alone makes this worth it, SPF meets serious skincare.

5. Bioré UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF 50+

Best for: Combination to oily skin | Finish: Lightweight, slightly dewy | Water resistant: Varies by version (check packaging)

If you have combination or oily skin and you’re still struggling to find your perfect daily SPF, please try the Bioré UV Aqua Rich. This is one of the most beloved Japanese sunscreens ever made, and for good reason. It smooths on with no white cast, has a light gel-cream texture, wears well alone or under makeup, and helps keep oily skin in check — almost acting like a primer.

It’s oil-free, non-comedogenic, dermatologist tested, and incredibly affordable for the quality you’re getting. It absorbs quickly on all skin tones without leaving a white cast, and is free from Oxybenzone, Octinoxate, and other harsh ingredients. If you run hot or have a naturally oilier complexion, this is your summer face SPF.

Why it’s on the list: The OG Japanese sunscreen that started the K-beauty SPF obsession for a reason.

Body Sunscreens (Daily SPF Lotion)

6. Derma B Everyday Sun Block SPF 50+ PA++++

Best for: All skin types, family-friendly | Finish: Lightweight, dewy | Water resistant: No (daily use formula)

Body sunscreen doesn’t have to be thick, sticky, or smell like a beach hotel lobby, and the Derma B Everyday Sun Block is proof. With SPF 50+ PA++++ protection, this formula applies like a lotion with a lightweight, refreshing texture that absorbs without any stickiness. It contains cactus fruit, guarana, cucumber, and madecassoside to provide moisture, soothe irritated skin, and help restore overall skin health.

It’s formulated using NeoPharm’s MLE quick-absorption moisturizing technology, which helps the product absorb quickly without stickiness. It’s free from parabens, mineral oil, artificial colors, ethanol, and phenoxyethanol. It’s also safe for the whole family, from kids to adults. The large size makes it incredibly cost-effective, you can actually apply it generously the way you’re supposed to without rationing every drop.

Why it’s on the list: Serious protection, serious value, genuinely luxurious texture for a body SPF.

7. Sun Bum Original SPF 50 Body Lotion

Best for: All skin types | Finish: Lightweight, non-greasy | Water resistant: Yes (80 minutes)

Sun Bum is one of those brands that just gets it right every time, and their SPF 50 Body Lotion is a staple for a reason. It’s lightweight so it glides on and absorbs like a regular body lotion, and it’s vitamin E-enriched to moisturize while protecting — with vitamin C to help brighten skin too. It keeps skin from looking dry and dehydrated even through multiple reapplications on beach days.

It’s water resistant for up to 80 minutes, broad spectrum, free from Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, vegan, cruelty-free, and reef-safe. This is the one I reach for on days when I’m spending real time outdoors — it does the job without feeling like you’re wearing a coat of sunscreen. This one’s definitely the most expensive of all of them, especially since the bottle isn’t huge. But if you’re like me and you can’t stand a sticky body lotion with SPF for daily wear in the summer, then this is amazing.

Why it’s on the list: A reliable, feel-good daily body SPF that actually moisturizes and smells exactly like summer.

Active & Water-Resistant SPF (Beach & Outdoor Days)

8. Sun Bum Original SPF 70 Sunscreen Spray

Best for: All skin types | Finish: Slightly dewy/tacky (in the best way) | Water resistant: Yes (80 minutes)

For beach days, pool days, active days, or any time you need serious protection and convenience — the Sun Bum SPF 70 Spray is the one. I personally prefer a spray for active use because it’s fast, easy to reapply, and you can reach every area without a full production. The higher SPF 70 gives you extra peace of mind when you’re spending real time in the sun, sweating, or in and out of the water.

Honest texture note: this one does leave a slightly dewy, tacky feel behind — but at the beach or on an active outdoor day, that is genuinely not annoying at all. You’re in the sun, you’re moving, you’re in the water, you’re not worried about your skin feeling like glass. What you are worried about is burning, and this handles that beautifully. It’s vitamin E-enriched, water-resistant for up to 80 minutes, free from Oxybenzone and Octinoxate, and none of Sun Bum’s sprays use chemical propellants, they use compression instead of aerosol, which is better for you and the environment. They also make a lotion version if you prefer that format.

Why it’s on the list: For hardcore beach and outdoor days, you want hardcore protection, and SPF 70 delivers.

Specialty SPF (Because You’re Protecting All of You)

9. Sun Bum Scalp & Hair Mist SPF 30

Best for: All hair types | Water resistant: Yes (reapply after 80 min of swimming/sweating)

This is the one most people forget, and honestly, a sun-kissed scalp that’s actually burned is one of the most painful things imaginable (we’ve all been there). The Sun Bum Scalp & Hair Mist delivers a lightweight nourishing mist to protect your scalp from the sun without weighing down your hair. It works for all hair types and all occasions.

It’s enriched with sunflower seed oil and is vegan, gluten-free, cruelty-free, and sulfate-free. Just hold it 4–6 inches from the scalp, spray along your part and any exposed areas, and spread with your fingertips before heading out. Simple, lightweight, and a genuinely underrated step in a full-body sun care routine.

Why it’s on the list: Your scalp is skin too — and she deserves protection.

10. Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm SPF 45

Best for: All skin types | Finish: Glossy, glow-enhancing | Water resistant: No (daily use)

Last but absolutely not least, the lips. They are consistently the most forgotten part of any SPF routine and one of the most sun-damaged areas on the face over time. And the Naturium Phyto-Glow Lip Balm makes SPF lip protection something you’ll actually want to reach for every single day.

It’s broad spectrum SPF 45, formulated with a rich buttery blend of shea butter, cupuaçu butter, and plant squalane for lasting moisture, while phyto-derived esters add a silky shine without feeling heavy or sticky. It leaves lips with a sheer wash of color and a naturally luminous, cushiony finish, and it comes in the most beautiful range of shades from clear to neutral pinks and deeper tones, so you can actually wear this as your everyday lip look. At around $10 it’s one of the most affordable SPF lip balms out there and genuinely one of the prettiest. Apply before you head out and reapply throughout the day, especially after eating or drinking.

Why it’s on the list: SPF lip care that doubles as your everyday lip color? That’s the dream.

A Few Final SPF Tips Before You Go

Now that you have the products, here are a few reminders to make sure you’re actually getting the protection they promise:

Apply enough. Most people apply about 25% of the amount they actually need. For your face, you want roughly a nickel-sized amount (or the two-finger rule). For your body, be generous — don’t ration it.

Reapply every two hours. This is especially important if you’re sweating or swimming, even with water-resistant formulas. The Abib Sunstick makes this completely painless for your face.

SPF in your moisturizer doesn’t count as your SPF. You need a dedicated sunscreen on top, the concentrations in moisturizers aren’t high enough to offer real protection.

Don’t forget the overlooked spots. Ears, back of the neck, tops of feet, hands, scalp, and lips all need love too. Now you have products for all of them.
